The instinct is garbage and does not stack up against an iPhone. iPhone killer means it does everthing + more. It doesnt even have Wi-Fi like the iPhone does, so instinct fails right out of the box. I took my instinct back and reverted to my mogul. Theres a reason the price is $129, and that’s because its far from an iPhone killer.

I just bought Sprints Instinct and all I can say is that if you want to wast your money on an iPhone and a lousy AT&T price plan then you have a constitutional right to be stupid. This phone is absolutely amazing. It is fast and flawless and the coverage has been unbelievable wherever i have gone with it. Kudos to Sprint for putting a world class product in the hands of the consumer at a price everyone can afford. $99 a month and I get everything Sprint has to offer. Beat that AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile!

GSM(Tmob, ATT) is a newer technology and has limited coverage in the US compared to its CDMA(Sprint, Verizon) counterpart which is older and has more tower assets. While GSM is the GLOBAL standard, CDMA in the united states typically will get you better coverage and larger DATA coverage.

Just when I thought Sprint would continue to beat Sprint in EVDO. This will probably beat Sprint’s EVDO speeds but I’m still sticking with Sprint because in my market Sprint has more EVDO coverage than AT&T has 3G.

It would be nice if at&t brought 3G coverage to the highlands of Irvine because it’s embarrassing that their corporate store there doesn’t get it (4 bars EDGE, 0-1 bar 3G).

I do hope that with these ‘improvements’, at&t no longer sometimes drops calls when it switches from 3G to EDGE, and allows the call to switch from EDGE back to 3G.

Would be even better if they just switched off their 2G network, but it’s the USA, and we’re about 2-3 years behind the rest of the world’s 3G and devices.

Verizon Wireless voice is great, but Verizon dataplans suck. AT&T is great at both (at least in Los Angeles).

All you guys still on Sprint really need to switch. Your phones are ugly and push to talk ain’t all that great.

I’m reading what you guys are saying about AT&T…NO TRUE, I was a Cingular customer for 2yrs and when my contract was up I was gone,the service sucked. I have Verizon and I have no problems, been with Verizon 4yrs and I am not going anywhere.

I believed a lot depends on where you live and travel…if your from a major city it does not count..

I’ve tried US Cellular, Sprint, and currently AT&T. In my opinion, the service I have today with AT&T is the best so far. I have zero complaints about my service today — I get 3G speeds everywhere I go, and never have problems with dropped calls or poor reception. Everything just works. That’s more than I can say for my friends who still use Verizon.

I’ve never had to deal with customer service to report a problem, but I can’t imagine AT&T being worse than the treatment I received at Sprint. The last time I spoke to AT&T customer service, with questions on international roaming, they were friendly and knowledgable. No problems for me.

ATT is great!!!! I been with them for six years and never had any problems in terms of coverage and I travel an avg four times a month. But, I also buy the top phones in the world. My avg phones are always $400-$600 (out of pocket) so that can play a factor. If you buy a free phone you might experience some problems. Of course you get what you pay for.

In theory all the carriers have ubiquitous coverage. Its how they choose to deploy it. Take the AT&T/Bechtel marraige for example. A site that used to cost AT&T $17,000 to build now costs $71,000 because of Bechtel’s incompetence and 25 to 1 resource to site ratio. Note to carriers – be done already!! Get rid of Milestone payments, get rid of the large National firms and get back to your roots. Lets get back to regonality, regional accountability, regional P&L and T&M pricing. Guess what? Your system will get built – on time, on schedule and on budget. Amazing!!

I have been an AT&T/Cingular customer since 2002 and I never had any reason to look elsewhere. I’m sure the 3G IPHONE will work great and even in area s without 3G coverage the 3G IPHONE will still give you the same performance as the original IPHONE, on their EDGE network. Win-Win in my book.

ive used at&t, verizon, mci(when they were around), etc. As far as making phone calls goes, verizon has the best coverage (even in the back ass woods of pennsylvania). While traveling, i always have a signal with verizon. Not so with att.

AT&T’s 3G coverage in Sacramento and downtown Los Angeles is SOLID. I get really good connectivity and coverage for my laptop by using my Samsung Sync as a modem. While their customer service isn’t the easiest to use, I don’t think such a thing exists in today’s market – TMob, Sprint, and Verizon included. All things considered, AT&T has the fastest 3G network around.

Funny. AT&T’s PR department likes to put a spin on the markets it covers or will cover with 3G including the HSPA upgrades.

For example: They consider Las Vegas 2 markets while Verizon and Sprint count Vegas as one. Or, they’ll cover an airport in any given city then claim they have 3G there for the masses.

It’s tactics like this that disappoint me with their stalled 3G rollout. I’m just 45 miles NE of Los Angeles in a populated area and we still don’t have 3G. Verizon and Sprint are coming on 3 years of having 3G here.

Sad.

I used to have the Samsung BlackJack with the “unlimited data” plan, only to find out that this really plan didn’t include streaming content like video and audio.. does anyone know if the iphone data plan has this same stipulation?

I’ve had at&t 3G for almost a year now. I have to say their customer service is ‘nice’ on the face, but if you dig deeper such as with WCDMA technical questions, they will HANG UP on you, if not just lie they know anything about it.

It doesn’t help that I live a couple miles from an at&t store, and after asking them multiple times over the past year, I still can’t get reliable 3G where I am. It ridiculous the ass parts of Riverside and Santa Ana do, but not where I live.

It’s also unacceptable that there’s no coverage in the LA subways especially when I had a emergency recently and could not call out at any of the stations.
