Dell deepens executive bench
By Scott Moritz
Dell (DELL) named former GE Plastics chief Brian Gladden as its new CFO replacing Don Carty.
The move makes Gladden the No.2 executive under CEO and founder Michael Dell and a likely successor to the top job should Dell vacate the position again.
“We look forward to welcoming Brian as an operationally focused CFO whose skills in running multi-billion-dollar enterprises and substantial experience with an industry leader make him an ideal fit for the global economies in which we operate,” Dell said in a press release Monday.
For the past year Gladden ran Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, formerly GE’s plastics unit. The company had $6.6 billion in sales and 11,000 employees with operations in 60 countries.
Carty, who was Dell’s finance chief since January 2007, will stay on as a member of the board.
Shortly after becoming a new Dell customer got over charged in wireless printer scam..Very poor customer service….Dell needs to clean up its act!
Tough luck, I used to work there. I jumped the sinking ship. lol
Sadly, Dell and many other U.S. major corporations no longer consider the U.S. a market to focus on anymore. With a weak dollar and a saturated market, it’s just not worth it to them anymore. The market itself has moved Eastward. Your product support will get worse and worse as our well built capitalist society becomes more and more globalized. You and I are no longer the desired or targeted consumers
I had been a rah rah customer of DELL for many years, until recently when a $20 issue severed any and all future ties with the company due to their poor, poor, poor customer service/billing dept. I only hope the new guy can come down from the ivory tower and get in the trenches whether it be here or half way across the world to their call centers and just see and hear what the poor American consumer has to go through to get their products. Good luck Dell and my next tech puchase will come from Frys or Best buy.
