When talking about music phones it would be nice to mention Nokia's N91 and N91 8Gb models. Their somewhat ugly looks are perfectly compensated by the quality of sound and power of output they give. If you really care about the pure sound quality of what you get into your ears then you certainly should try N91. It has 4Gb of HDD storage capacity (as apposed to N91 8Gb model) and after trying it once with a pair of relatively decent ear phones (I prefer Sony's MDR-EX90LP right now) perhaps you will never want to listen to music on any of those flash drive memory based MP3 players.
Nokia N91 is much better as a music player than any other model by any other mobile phone maker, I guess. As far as I know, it beats all other stand alone music players as well. Apple's iPod is no match to N91 model either, both in terms of sound quality and power.
Sadly enough, Nokia's newest music phones, including N81 model, are all flash memory, though. It means N91 models remain the best music phones in the world, so far!
As Nokia enters US mobile music market, I feel very pity for Apple.

I had them all, the Nokias, Sony Ericsson and the iPhone. Comparing Nokia to the iPhone is comparing a Dell to a Mac. Or calling a dolphin a fish. It is missing a crucial point: The iPhone is high tech with high touch. Nokia's only high tech, no high touch at all.

It's not that simple! Nokia may have a chance out of US but in US, it's hard to beat Apple.

Yes,definitely Nokia is no.1 and is really cool with this new service. It is clearly leading the competition and is showing the new frontiers to the rest of phone companies.

I would never buy a phone for the free music. When I had Napster, I quickly figured out that I did not need or want 20,000 songs. I spend about the same per month on iTunes ($15) and know that all my playlists have songs I actually want to hear, not only that, but it all syncs automatically to an iPhone, 2 iPods, and an Apple TV. The ease of use makes all the difference.

So this new model is the best Nokia can do to compete with iTunes/iPhone? All Apple have to do to kill this is to turn on iTune's "subscription switch"?

It's just amazing what Apple had done to the mobile phone industry in less than one year. Analysts in denial are looking foolish and more so by the end of this year.
